Social Bookmarking - Delicious

This week it is all about social booking marking using Delicious, Diigo, CiteUlike and Connote. I choose to investigate Delicious; I have used the site before, last semester at Uni but havent used it since. I think its a good website to use instead of bookmarking everything in the browser. this website enables you to access your favourite websites no matter what computer you are on. In investigation of this i anwserd 6 questions relating to this exercise.

1. What does the tool claim to do? How do its creators describe it?
Delicious is to help users find their favourite websites more efficiently than ever before. This site has been brought to individuals through Yahoo, but nothing was found about how they describe the social bookmarking site.

2. Is it designed for particular types of documents or websites? Give examples
This site is designed for any site the user wishes to save/bookmark such as social networking and enterainment sites.

3. Does it require a particular browser or other software?
All browsers are excepted with this website, and probably other software as well will go well with this social bookmarking site.

4. What similarities / differences can you see with bookmarking/ favorites?
This site is a step up from using browser bookmarking/favourites, as you can use your bookmarks on any computer or browser as they are saved on to the delicious website itself.

5. What social features does the tool include?
Its called Social bookmarking for a reason as people can connect with you and see what you are actually bookmarking and could help them find sites that they are after or interested in.

6. How do you get started using it e.g. do you need to pay money, register, install software, or a toolbar etc.
To be begin with you do need to sign up for a yahoo account and then sign up to delicious, it is a free site and anyone can sign up to. You then can install gadgets on to the browser and then simply save websites without logging onto Delicious.
